MAINE
In 1999, Amanda began her ongoing series of drawing the coast of Maine near Bar Harbor. Armed with a stack of 9" x 11" paper prepared with gesso, she positions herself outside in nature every summer, uses black sumi ink from China, and records the seascape near her surroundings from different viewpoints. The result is a multitude of perspectives which explore the diverse coastal region, employing the characteristics of fog and light, water and rock, redefining classic Downeast Maine in her own way.
